Why "it’s neighhhhh fun being small" says Pedro
Pedro’s pint-size stature has made him a hit at Ebony Horse Club, but his height means he struggles to see over his door. Our young people have invented the world’s first, fully working, pony periscope, the Pedroscope!
Ebony Horse Club has had a flying start to 2015. It might be a little chilly out there, but our young people's enthusiasm for riding and looking after the horses remains high. Just under 130 individual children and young people, our regular members and school groups, have enjoyed riding at EHC in January.
And... Hello Pedro!
Pedro, our new Shetland Pony, was impossible to resist and is already a big hit with our young people, volunteers and team. Pedro's big responsibility is helping our beginner riders to gain confidence around horses. Believe it or not Shetlands are our strongest breed of horse. Shetlands can pull twice their weight, which means they have twice the power of most heavy horses, like the massive Shire horse.
Update from Trustees
After twelve years during which Ros Spearing has been instrumental in setting up Ebony Horse Club from its inception, the Trustees agreed that a change of management structure is now required. Accordingly, Ros has chosen not to be part of this new structure and left the club on 22 August 2014. A passionate visionary, Ros has created a community riding centre in an inner city neighbourhood which provides innovative programmes for individual children and significantly enhances the lives of many young people: it is the intention of the Trustees to hold fast to this vision. The Trustees are hugely grateful to Ros for her hard work and commitment and wish her well for her future.
